In April of 2021, Meow Meow Foundation will unveil a support service for families and victims who have been involved in drowning or camp safety-related incidents.

The support service will include educational services, 24/7 phone call access, mental health service connections, advocacy guidance, select opportunities for funding and more.

“as we continue to experience the grief and confusion of our one and only child dying from a preventable drowning at a summer camp, we understand the long, hard road that families endure after such a tragedy,” said Meow Meow Foundation President Doug Forbes. “Even if a child survives an aquatics or camp-related injury or abuse incident, we are eager to help caregivers navigate an often confusing road to recovery.”

Forbes and foundation co-founder Elena Matyas implore survivors to seek help instead of isolating. They said that far too many caregivers endure the emotional hardships associated with children harmed in aquatics or camp incidents. They want to provide an often overlooked component of advocacy that extends beyond sharing experiences — one that offers tangible well-being and educational resources.

Mew Meow Foundation expects to launch the service by the end of April 2021.
